Frequently asked questions

Answers before you get started.

These general answers are not legal advice and may vary by jurisdiction or engagement.

Is the preliminary review free?

Yes. You can send the basic claim and vehicle information for an initial screening without an appraisal engagement or obligation to proceed.

What happens after I submit?

We review the information you provide, identify what else may be needed, and contact you about the appropriate next step. You do not need every claim document to get started.

How much does TrueAuto charge?

Fees depend on the service and complexity of the matter. If your case is appropriate for a paid engagement, the scope and fee are explained before you decide whether to proceed.

Will you tell me if the insurance offer appears reasonable?

Yes. The preliminary review is intended to identify whether the available facts support a deeper valuation review. We do not promise an increase and will not manufacture a dispute where the evidence does not support one.

Do you guarantee an increased settlement?

No. No ethical appraiser can guarantee a claim outcome. We provide independent analysis and professional documentation based on the evidence available.

Do you negotiate directly with the insurer?

That depends on the service, jurisdiction, license authority, policy language, and engagement scope. We explain the permitted scope before accepting the assignment.

What documents should I send?

The insurer valuation or estimate, VIN, mileage, photos, repair records, option list, policy pages, and claim correspondence are a strong starting point.

How quickly can a report be completed?

Timing depends on complexity and document availability. A delivery estimate is provided after intake.

Can you handle commercial vehicles?

Yes. Services can include valuation, estimate review, and loss-of-use analysis for qualifying taxis, buses, rideshare vehicles, delivery vans, and fleets.

Do you work with attorneys and body shops?

Yes. We offer technical file review, reports, exhibits, consultation, and repeatable workflows for professional partners.

Will my service agreement be sent to the insurance company?

No. Your service agreement is a private agreement between you and TrueAuto. When carrier authorization is needed, our onboarding process creates a separate limited Letter of Representation / Authorization that does not disclose private fee or payment terms.

What mileage should I provide for a diminished value claim?

For diminished value, mileage at or as close as possible to the date of loss is especially important because the appraisal compares the vehicle’s market position around the time of the collision. Current mileage can also be provided separately.

Can I submit a claim if I am not sure which service I need?

Yes. Use the general Submit a Claim form and select “Not Sure — Please Review.” We will identify the appropriate service based on the vehicle, claim status, documents, and objective.
